How to distinguish genuine and fake cowhide belts
1. Visual discrimination
Clear lines can be seen on the surface of the dermis, but the lines will vary because the skin of different parts of the cow is different, with animal fibers on the reverse. On the contrary, fake skins have no pores and have basically the same lines.
2. Drip identification method
Because there are pores on the surface of the leather, we can drop a drop of water on the belt, and the water will be completely absorbed by the belt in about a minute, forming a water mark. The material of synthetic leather has no pores, and even after a day has passed, it is still the same, with no water leakage.
3. Tactile discrimination
When purchasing, we can touch it with our hands. When we use our fingers to scratch the surface of the genuine leather, it feels a bit astringent and very textured, while the surface of the artificial leather feels very smooth. Moreover, when we stretch it, it does not have good ductility.
4. Olfactory discrimination
Genuine leather can have a strong fur taste, even after being processed at the factory, the taste is very obvious, while fake leather mostly has a plastic taste, without fur taste.
5. Combustion identification method
Cut a small piece of belt from the leading part and ignite it. After the leather burns, it emits white smoke, while the fake leather is black; Due to the fact that the main components of both dermis and human hair are proteins, there will be a smell of burnt hair after burning; After complete combustion, the crumbs of cowhide can be pinched into powder shape, while the crumbs of fake leather can become lumps.
